It was song and dance for slum dwellers residing in Nairobi Mt. View, and the surrounding Kangemi estate who received free blankets and foodstuffs courtesy of the Ananda Marga mission and partners.
Over 3000 residents turned up as early as 4am in the morning to line up for the free assortment of foodstuffs that included Bread, Milk, Bananas, Cabbages, blankets and later free lunch.
The chairman of the Ananda Marga mission Dada Diiptimayananda who admitted facing challenges urged the Government to come out and ensure slum dwellers are taken care of in terms of food, clothing and other basic needs to sustain them and provide a better future.
Addressing the media at the missions head quarters at Mountain view estate, Dada said it has been a challenge sustaining the huge turnout every Sunday that include old men/women and kids.
He thanked partners who support his mission and called for others to show their love and concern by supporting him.
Different Speakers lauded Dada describing him as a true Angel who caters for their food and basic needs. Janet Mumbe said Amarga mission has been like their ancestral home.
“We ave benefitted a lot from this mission, I don’t know where I could be if it was not this Gentleman Dada Diiptimayananda , he has been like a father to all of us, we normally pray for him, and we are happy God has stood with him” she said.
In attendance was Shivam Niraj shah of Elite tools Ltd, a leading partner of the mission who donated 500 blankets and the foodstuffs.

Shah was full of praise of Dada Diiptimayananda for maintaining the food distribution exercise every Sunday for the slum dwellers.
“We felt it vital to come every week to give back to the community. Today we donated 500 blankets and other foodstuffs like bread, Bananas and milk. We are delighted to associate with Ananda Marga mission and we promise to support their good venture” observed Shivam Shah.
