He is a schemer, a good grass root mobilizer, generous, articulate and ODM party loyalist, he plans his moves with precision and has no room for political mistakes; he is BABA’s confidant in Nairobi and that is why the party entrusted him with the position of minority chief whip of Nairobi county assembly this is none other than Hon. Peter Imwatok aka Jateso.
He has been an MCA since 2012 and for the last ten years he has honed his political skills recently when the Nairobi ODM chairman and also makadara member of Parliament tried to come up with a list of his own of Makadara constituency party officials Hon. Peter Imwatok stopped him on his tracks; it started when he went to present his list at ODM NEB offices saying it’s the harmonised list , the MCA like a tiger sprung to his feet with a list of his own claiming that the delegates duly elected him as opposed to the list being presented by the Nairobi ODM chairman, there was also Hon. Jack Olonde former councilor who claimed he was the duly elected chairman this confusion saw all parties told to go back and harmonies the list in the presence of ODM party officials. On the due date the ODM Nairobi chairman arranged a meeting and to his surprise Hon. Peter Imwatok mobilized his supporters who stopped the meeting due to the fact the previous day there was a court injunction issued. Like a fox he out smarted his opponents.
While his opponents were licking their wounds of defeat from the sham elections and being outsmarted he yet pulled another fast one by organizing a football tournament ” Azimio la umoja” this was immediately after BABA had declared his presidential bid, who else graced the final other than the ODM party secretary General Lawrence Sifuna, this made the member of Parliament who had also been invited but gave the tournament a wide berth, cry wolf and issued a statement stating he will not support Sifuna’s senatorial bid, Hon. Peter Imwatok had yet again pulled the carpet from under his opponents feet.
Hon. Peter Imwatok has not declared which political he will be seeking but his mere silence is sending cold chills through his opponents spines, like fine wine which matures with age so is the politics of “Jateso” , he is a politician who you can ignore at your own peril, like him or hate him this is one politician who will confidently go after what he wants through proper scheming, mobilizing and planning. As the sun sets in August 2022 woe unto you if you are running against him…..only time will tell
