Residents of Nairobi County Houses given 30 day ultimatum to clear all rent arrears

The tenants of Nairobi County government rental houses have until June 30 to clear all their rent arrears before government embarks on generating a new database for the housing units.


The Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS), Nairobi County government and the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) will undertake an exercise to update the inventory of County rental houses and the tenants residing in them.


According to Millicent Mugadi MCA Ziwani Ward the exercise is to be conducted before the June deadline.

For the tenants to be enrolled in the houses afresh they will be expected to have original copies of the national ID, Rental Card, KRA pin, latest payment receipt and any other relevant document.

They are reminded to pay the rent in time and ensure the areas are cleared before 30th June.


Mugadi asked her constituents who owe NMS huge balances to have a talk with on how they will pay.


“Government wants money and I would urge Ziwani residents who leaves in those houses to make a date with NMS before they are evicted.” Mugadi said.
Affected areas are Kariobangi, Kariokor Ziwani, Mbotela, Maringo, Jericho, Maringo, Bahati, Woodley Kenyatta,
