Governor Joseph Ole Lenku has launched a diplomatic charm offensive to the Majority of MCAs in a bid to shore up numbers for his preferred candidate for the Speaker’s Seat.

With his blessings, Azimio La Umoja MCAs have settled on Lawyer Koin Lompo Papaa from Kaputiei North Ward with another hopeful for the seat Kipampi Ole Ntele likely to drop off from the race for another senior position in the Executive.

At the moment, Ntele is a senior official at the Kajiado County Assembly and it is not clear of he is still eligible to run for the seat having not resigned from public service in February.

Ntele and Lompo come from the same ward and the choice of Lompo will still gift the position to the Ilkaputiei community of Kajiado East, one of the strongholds of Governor Lenku.

As a lawyer,Lompo’s standing as a candidate is shoulders higher than that of the UDA nominee for the position, Justus Enteke Ngussur, a former councillor of Ewuaso Inkidong Ward in Kajiado West.

Lenku’s Azimio La Umoja got 12 MCAs against UDA’s 13 MCAS but this shortage of MCAs could be canceled by diplomacy which Lenku is extending to DP Ruto’s men.

ODM MCAs Bernard Moloma ( Kenyawa Poka), Isaac Kiresian (Magadi), Eli Gor( Oloolua) and Joseph Torris( Ewuaso Inkidong) aver that all they are waiting is Governor Lenku’s signal on who will be the next Speaker.

Wiper MCAs Simon Saitoti( Purko) and Abraham Osoi ( Matapato North) as well as Jubilee’s Joseph Mutunkei( Ildamat) and Amos Sholoi( Keekonyokie) have declared support for the Azimio la Umoja Candidate.
