Nissan Kenya has donated 500 dignity kits to Heels4Pads Foundation. The dignity kits are geared towards meeting the menstrual needs of girls and women in the coastal region who are adversely affected by challenges that stem from period poverty. Each dignity kit will cover each woman’s menstrual needs for a duration of up to 2 years.
The donation was headlined by Nairobi’s Women Representative, Esther Passaris and the dignity kits flagged off by Crown Motors Group Managing Director, Tony Voorhout and Maliha Sheikh, National Sales Manager for Crown Motors Group. This was alongside Heels4Pads Foundation Founders, Monicah Muhoya, Angela Waweru, Co-founder Angela Muiruri as well as Apollo Tours and Travel Marketing Director, Agnes Wamai.
Speaking at the event at the Nairobi Showroom, Tony Voorhout noted that, “At Crown Motors, we recognize the larger responsibility that we need to play and which goes beyond our clientele. We strongly feel that it is our duty to identify the needs of the less privileged in our communities and offer them the support they need.”
“A great society is built on the bricks of elevation and building confidence. And confidence is exactly what these dignity kits will give and restore to all these women and girls.” Added Maliha Sheikh.
The Heels4Pads Foundation Trust which is under Sister Speaks Global looks to raise and amplify awareness on period poverty while empowering women and girls to advance gender equality and equity through the menstrual health approach. The initiative employs innovation to raise, distribute sanitary towels and offer MHM education to girls and women in impoverished backgrounds in Kenya as well as destigmatize menstruation and menstrual hygiene as a whole. It also seeks to influence policies through advocacy for menstrual equality.
