Nairobi City County Water and Sewerage Company (NCCWSC) recently conducted a crackdown on illegal water connections in the Kyang’ombe area along the Southern bypass. The operation aimed to address the escalating issue of unauthorized water hookups.

Led by NCCWSC’s Security Team in collaboration with the National Police Service’s Critical Infrastructure Protection Unit (CIPU), the crackdown resulted in the removal of all pipes illicitly connected to the main water supply lines.

During the operation, it was discovered that one individual had established an illegal connection to distribute water to various entities, including factories. Efforts are underway to identify and apprehend this individual to prevent further illegal activities and ensure compliance with water regulations. Surveillance measures have been implemented to deter any attempts to reconnect the unauthorized pipelines.

The joint efforts of NCCWSC and law enforcement agencies demonstrate a commitment to combatting water cartels and safeguarding the integrity of the water supply system. Such actions are crucial in maintaining fair access to water resources and preventing exploitation by unauthorized entities.
