MCA launches a new initiative to curb unemployment

Makongeni MCA Peter Imwatok has urged youths in his ward to utilize their time in sports activities saying it’s the only way to fight poverty and joblessness menace in the city.


Speaking at Makongeni Grounds Makadara sub-county when he graced a tournament organized by his offices in conjunction with Kenya Alliance of Resident Associations (KARA) the lawmaker says he will continue supporting local talent by giving them platforms to showcase their prowess.


‘‘We have done a series of tournaments but I can assure this is not the end we want to bring everyone on board to ensure our youths are a nurtured and they don’t end up in Makongeni only .’’ He said.


‘‘The locals must also come out and join hands with us but not fighting us in events it’s for the good of our own people.’’ He added.


Meanwhile Makongeni residents applauded the move saying it will bring unity in their ward.


‘‘We need leaders like Imwatok not politicking and bringing nothing on the table ..We are happy with todays’ tournament and we anticipate he will continue with the good spirit,’’ Oginga Odimba told the media.


Maziwa County football club were the winner of yesterday tournament that attracted 22 teams. They took home 25 thousand shillings with other valuables.
