Manchester City’s Defender Benjamin Mendy has been charged with four counts of sexual assault on Thursday with City suspending him as investigations are pending.
The police said Mendy who is 27 years has been remanded in custody and is set to appear at the magistrate court on Friday.
“The charges relate to three complaints over the age of 16 years and are alleged to have taken place between October 2020 and August 2021,” Cheshire Constabulary as aid in a statement.
Manchester City said in a statement they would not be making any further comment on the issue due to legal process. Mendy has played for France ten times and he was with them when they won the 2018 World Cup. He was signed by City from AS Monaco in 2017 at 53 Million Pounds.
He has won the Premier League three times with them although he has been limited with injuries as he underwent a knee Surgery in 2018-19 season.
