Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka has encouraged youths to embrace digitalization in the quest to eliminate corruption in organizations and service provision.
Speaking at Kibabii University during the county’s International Youth Day commemoration, he urged young citizens to leverage the county’s Ajiri Digital platforms, established in the nine constituencies, to enhance their digital skills for online job opportunities.
“We have numerous opportunities where you can create employment or learn marketable skills that will leverage your income and expertise,” he advised.
Director for Youth and Sports in the county, David Kalamu, also accentuated the need for youths to seek indulgence with the office for guidance and support in nurturing their talents.
Dr. Andrew Wamalwa, CECM for Water, Environment, Climate Change, and Natural Resources, affirmed to the youths that his department is keen on mainstreaming youths in their planning and projects.
Isaac Wanjala, the chairman of Kenya Youth Organization Bungoma Chapter, requested the county government embrace them and many other youth organizations in public participation and youth-related issues.
“We seek indulgence and incorporation in projects and developmental issues at the county level; we also look forward to youth policy implementation,” noted Wanjala.
Conclusively, the governor confirmed that the much-anticipated Youth Policy, crafted by the County Executive, has successfully passed through the County Assembly and is now poised for supplementary approval and implementation.
“The Youth Policy will serve as a cornerstone in ensuring that the voices of our young people are heard and considered in the governance of our county,” he stated.
He further acknowledged that the youth policy is a critical step towards empowering the youth and involving them in decision-making processes that affect their future.
