Nairobi City County is on the spot over irregular recruitment of nurses.
In a request for a statement to the sectoral committee on labor and social welfare, Ngei Member of County Assembly Redson Otieno alleged that the recent recruitment of nurses by the County Public Service Board (CPSB) was marred by irregularities.
The legislator stated that those who applied for the jobs through the county online portal were never considered for shortlisting, interviews, and consideration of appointments.
He requested that the committee provide the list of online applicants for the advertised jobs and their qualifications, those who were shortlisted together with their qualifications, and those who were approved for interview together with those who were employed.
“The recent recruitment of nurses by the County Public Service Board was marred with irregularities. The nurses who applied online were never shortlisted. Others who applied without the required qualifications were given the jobs without the required qualifications.” Redson stated.
The MCA stated that the problem has been across the various sectors and not the health sector only adding that in some instances people are forced to pay for them to be employed.
