Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi who is eyeing the Nairobi gubernatorial seat has hinted that he will not step down for anyone.

The legislator has been under intense pressure from some sections of the party officials to relinquish his bid in favour of Richard Ngatia who has been termed the compromise candidate.

However in a reply the soft spoken MP noted that it was obvious where the deputy president’s position under Azimio la Umoja was headed, therefor noting that the Luhya community must not relent in their quest for Nairobi.

“There is no going for a lesser seat we are going for the main one. We must not accept stepping down for anyone,” Wanyonyi said during a meeting with the bishops drawn from churches around Nairobi.

The battle for the Nairobi City Governor has been gaining momentum with politicians and technocrats declaring their interest in the seat.

In recent months several leaders have intensified campaigns with incumbent Ann Kananu declaring she will defend her seat.

Already 6 people have already declared interest in the seat.
