The Dik dik Road was renamed after the COTU secretary General last month by the Nairobi Deputy governor, Ann Kananu.

A section of the Nairobi county Assembly Members had opposed it saying she did not follow the right procedure in doing so.

Irate Kenyans burnt the road sign on Monday night. The sign board had been reinstalled two weeks ago after a controversy that saw the signage brought down.

A section of Kenyans on social media said that Atwoli had not done anything for the workers for a road to be named after him.

Mwangi said some young men had been employed to guard the sign.
