Five more officers of the disbanded unit to be arraigned over missing Indians and their drver

Five Police officers from the disbanded Special Squad Unit (SSU) will on Thursday, October 27, 2022 be arraigned before court after they were arrested and placed in custody over on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 over the missing of two Indians and their driver.
This brings a total of nine officers having been arrested and placed in custody over the same.
The five are expected to be charged for the abduction of the three and also an additional charge of Conspiracy to commit crime.
“They are being investigated for the offence of Conspiracy to commit felony contrary to section 393 of the Penal Code and abduction contrary to section 254 of the Penal Code,” the police report seen by K24 Digital read in part.
They were arrested at the Internal Affairs Unit Headquarters after an interrogation by their IAU counterparts who are investigating the Saga.
The five include; Three Constables-Stephen Luseno Matunda, Paul Njogu Muriithi, Simon Gikonyo and two corporals Joseph Mwendwa Mbaya and David Chepcheng Kipsoi.
The five join their four Colleagues who were on Monday arraigned at the Kahawa Law courts.
On Wednesday, the Kahawa Chief Magistrate Diana Mochache dismissed the objection of the Lawyers representing the officers on their miscellaneous application seeking them to be detained for 30 days for investigations to be concluded.
The nine officers are with two other Civilians over the same matter.
Officers in charge of the investigations are awaiting for the forensic results of the bones, belts and clothes which were recovered in the Aberdare Forest by officers who were deployed to search for the three and it’s believed the dozen recoveries are for the missing three.
The three, Mohamed Zaid Sami Kidwai, driver Nichodemus Mwania Mwange and Zulfiqar Ahmad Khan were abducted near the Olesereni Hotel and were driven away in a car which was unmarked on July, 24, 2022.
The two Indians had come to the country to join IT experts for President William Ruto during the campaign period.
Two vehicles which were assigned to the disbanded unit have been since linked to the disappearance of the three.
The SSU unit was disbanded and its officers sent on leave pending further actions as it was linked to extra Judicial killings.
