Carrefour, which Majid Al Futtaim owns the exclusive rights to operate in Kenya, has completed a KES 6.3 million refurbishment at Langata Road Primary and Junior Secondary School in Nairobi.

The renovation project is part of Carrefour Kenya’s Round Up Your Bill initiative, which aims to drive positive change in the community with the support of its customers.

Through the initiative, Langata Road Primary and Junior Secondary School had their classrooms and corridors tiled and painted, in addition to the completion of essential infrastructure repairs, ensuring an elevated learning environment for over 550 students.

Christophe Orcet, Regional Director – East Africa, Majid Al Futtaim Retail, stated:

“At Majid Al Futtaim, we truly believe that a bright future begins with nurturing young minds. Through the Round Up Your Bill initiative, we are honoured to continue our collaboration with our valued customers to extend support to the students of Langata Road Primary and Junior Secondary School, providing them with an enhanced learning environment that will help them accelerate their growth and achieve success.”

This project is among others completed this year under Carrefour’s Round Up Your Bill, including a Sh573,000 donation in food hampers to 450 households affected by the March-April-May floods in Mathare.

Carrefour has also completed the installation of a Sh360,000 water harvesting system at Lutheran Church Special School for the Mentally Challenged in Kisumu.

In addition, the retailer also completed a KES 1.8 million renovation of a basketball court and skating rink at Shangilia Mtoto wa Afrika children’s home in Kangemi, Nairobi.

Since its inception in 2016, Round Up Your Bill has played a pivotal role in supporting various community projects and facilitating tangible improvements in local institutions in support of children and the elderly. In 2023 alone, Carrefour contributed over Sh 15 million towards essential supplies and infrastructure for these vulnerable groups
